Budding Artists pre-K summer camp for ages 3.5-5 years entering kindergarten

⚠️ Important for Kindergarten Families:

Students entering Kindergarten should register for our Pre-K camp. Students who have completed a year of Kindergarten and will be entering 1st grade should register for the Art & Play (Elementary) program.

Elementary summer art camp for grades K-5 in Bellingham

Elementary students dive into 8 weeks of exciting summer art projects that challenge their creativity and technical skills!

⚠️ For Kindergarten Families:

This program is for students who have completed Kindergarten and will be entering 1st grade. Students entering Kindergarten should register for our Budding Artists (Pre-K) program.

Clay & Pottery Studio with Teacher Haley

Ceramics and pottery summer camp for ages 5-16 in Bellingham
Ages 5–11 & Ages 11–16

Get your hands on clay! Each week explores a different theme — from sculpted tiles and clay critters to wheel throwing, hand-building, and glowing luminaries. Led by Teacher Haley Holmgren at our Holly Street Studio.

All sessions include: 25 lbs of clay & all tools needed.

In this fun and creative ceramics summer camp, students will explore clay through sculpting and decorating their own unique tiles. Campers will learn basic handbuilding skills, experiment with textures and patterns, and use colorful glazes to bring their designs to life. This class encourages imagination, creative expression, and confidence while teaching safe studio habits in a supportive and playful environment.

Munching on Mud
Who's hungry for clay? In this delightfully messy ceramics adventure, artists will use hand-building techniques to whip up ceramic creations that look good enough to eat! From pretend pastries to playful pizza slices, campers will pinch, roll, and sculpt their favorite foods out of clay, adding fun textures and colorful details. It's a recipe for creativity!

Sculpting Nature
Let your creativity grow wild in this nature-inspired ceramics summer camp! Students will explore clay while sculpting fun and imaginative forms inspired by the natural world — animals, plants, shells, and more. Through hands-on play, artists will learn simple building techniques, experiment with textures, and add colorful details to bring their creations to life. This class celebrates curiosity, creativity, and a love of nature in a joyful and supportive studio environment.

Clay Masks
Get ready to play, create, and get a little messy with clay! In this fun ceramics summer camp, artists will dream up and build their own sculpted clay masks, bringing their ideas and characters to life. Students will explore hands-on techniques, add cool textures and details, and finish their masks with colorful decorations. This camp encourages imagination, confidence, and creative expression in a joyful and supportive studio space.

Clay Critters
Get your hands muddy and your imagination running wild in this playful ceramics adventure! Campers will explore hand-building techniques like slab, coil, and pinch to bring their own sculpted creatures to life. From silly monsters to magical animals, students will shape, stack, squish, and smooth clay into one-of-a-kind creations full of personality. Perfect for young artists who love to build, experiment, and let their creativity take the lead!

Cups Galore
Let's make something fun to sip from! In this playful ceramics summer camp, students will explore clay while creating all kinds of unique mugs and cups. Artists will try different shapes, build with their hands, and add creative handles, textures, and decorations to make each piece one of a kind. This class encourages imagination, confidence, and joyful creativity while introducing safe and supportive studio habits.

Wheel Throwing

Final Fired Ceramic Work

Student pieces will be fired within two weeks of the final glazing class session. Students will receive a list of pickup dates and times. Any work left more than 30 days will be recycled.

Outdoor art summer camp for kids ages 7-11 in Bellingham

Art meets adventure! Campers explore Bellingham's parks, beaches, and natural spaces while creating art inspired by the world around them — from tidepool watercolors to sand mandalas.

Camp Weeks

Week 1 June 22–26
Underwater Odyssey
Explore the variety of life in tidepools using water-based art! Campers learn about intertidal creatures while playing at Larrabee State Park and Marine Park. Activities include watercolor botanical illustrations, bubble creations, and tie-dye. Be prepared for splashing if the weather cooperates!
Week 4 July 13–17
Inventors & Imagination
A STEAM-based week exploring local parks and landmarks through building and sculpting with clay, sand, and natural materials. Campers visit Cordata to create a playground (and play in the splash park), Boulevard Park for mosaics, and Marine Park at low tide to draw mandalas and mazes in the sand as ephemeral art.
Week 6 July 27–31
Time Machine
Step into the time machine and arrive as a pioneer in turn-of-the-century Bellingham! Campers film a short video about pioneer life, create candles, explore printmaking, charcoal drawing, and even churn butter. Adventures take us to Fairhaven creeks (and the splash park), Lake Padden, and Waypoint parks.
Week 7 August 3–7
Once Upon an Art
What happens when the tide comes in? Campers perform "Life on the Rocks" — a short play about marine life in the Intertidal Zone. The week is spent creating costumes and props, rehearsing, and playing on the beach at Larrabee State Park. On the final day, campers perform on the outdoor stage — families welcome!
