Private Music Lessons

Gabriel's Art Kids is excited to offer one-on-one instrument lessons for aspiring musicians of all ages. Our experienced instructors are passionate about nurturing musical talent and creativity in a supportive environment.

  • Piano (ages 4+)
  • Ukulele (ages 5+)
  • Guitar (ages 6+)
  • Recorder (ages 7+)
  • Voice (ages 8+)
  • Orchestral strings for violin ( ages 6+).
  • Trumpet (ages 10+)

Lesson Details:

  • Available Monday through Friday, 2:30 PM - 6:30 PM
  • 30-minute sessions
  • Held in our cozy music room at D Street location
  • Flexible scheduling to fit your needs

New students are welcome to enjoy a complimentary meet-and-greet session before enrolling. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, our personalized approach ensures that each lesson is tailored to your individual goals and learning pace.
Special Arrangements for ASAP Students:
Kindergarten ASAP students may have the option for pull-out lessons while already on-site, except during their 4-5 PM art lesson.
  • Dupont ASAP students must arrange their own transportation to the D Street location for lessons.
  • Space is limited, so don't miss out on this opportunity to embark on your musical journey with GAK!

What instruments do you offer lessons for?
We offer lessons for piano, ukulele, guitar, recorder, voice, violin, viola, and cello. Age recommendations vary by instrument.
How old does my child need to be to start lessons?
Age recommendations are as follows:
  • Piano: 4+ years
  • Ukulele: 5+ years
  • Guitar: 6+ years
  • Recorder: 7+ years
  • Voice: 8+ years
  • Harp: 6+ years
How long are the lessons?
Lessons are typically 30 minutes long.
Where do lessons take place?
Lessons are held in our music room at the D Street location (2215 D St, Bellingham WA 98225).
How much do lessons cost?
Lesson fees may vary by instructor. Please inquire for current rates.
Do you offer a trial lesson?
Yes, we offer a complimentary meet-and-greet session for new students before enrolling.
Can ASAP students take lessons?
Yes, with some arrangements. Kindergarten ASAP students may have pull-out lessons while on-site (except during 4-5 PM art lesson). Dupont ASAP students need to arrange their own transportation to the D Street location.
How do I know if my child is ready for private lessons?
Every child’s readiness for music lessons is unique, but here are some general signs that they may be prepared for private instruction:

1. Age and Attention Span
  • Can sit still and focus for 15-30 minutes
  • Follows simple instructions
  • Shows interest in listening to music
2. Physical Readiness
  • Has the necessary fine motor skills for their chosen instrument
    • For piano: Can distinguish between fingers and use them independently
    • For string instruments: Has hand strength to press the strings
    • For wind instruments: Has breath control and can form lips correctly
3. Musical Interest
  • Enthusiastic about music and making sounds
  • Sings along to songs or creates their own tunes
  • Asks questions about instruments or how music is made
4. Basic Musical Awareness
  • Can differentiate between high and low pitches
  • Able to clap or move to a beat
  • Recognizes when sounds are the same or different
5. Emotional Maturity
  • Open to receiving constructive feedback
  • Willing to practice regularly
  • Patient when learning new skills
6. Parent Involvement
  • Parent(s) are able to commit time for regular practice sessions
  • Home environment is supportive of musical exploration
